Assistant Vice President, Writer/Content Developer - Marketing

The Marketing Department is the keeper of the NYCEDC brand, providing marketing support including strategy, creative, online, and social media to all divisions within NYCEDC. Marketing also provides support to City Hall and other city agencies on individual projects and programs.

Your Role: The Assistant Vice President (AVP), Writer/Content Developer will be responsible for supporting NYCEDC's Marketing team by assisting with writing and editing for email marketing, print (brochures, articles, advertisements) and digital verticals, social media, blog, and web projects. The AVP Writer/Content Developer will also work closely with art directors and the video editor to help create strategically-accurate campaigns.

You will collaborate with other members of the Marketing group including Strategy and Social Media.

General Responsibilities:

  • Generate copy for ad campaigns, collateral, social media, web content, scripts, and other projects as needed
  • Assist with reviewing and publishing content to the website (Drupal 7)
  • Building email collateral within our ESP (MailChimp)
  • Proofreading and copyediting

Required Skills:

  • Ability to write clearly, concisely, and correctly with extreme attention to grammar and punctuation
  • Familiarity with Chicago and AP style
  • Experience working within the boundaries of a style guide
  • Experience with creating compelling messages for different target demographics and personas
  • Organized, reliable self-starter
  • Strong creative and analytical thinker
  • Credible and articulate, with excellent communication skills
  • A basic knowledge of HTML and CSS, email marketing, and CMS content management is beneficial
  • Project a professional attitude and foster a positive team atmosphere demonstrating respect for peers and supervisors

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years' experience developing content and writing for corporate and/or institutional sectors
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a creative team
  • Ability to work efficiently, meet deadlines, and handle multiple assignments
  • Proficiency in using Mac and/or PC platforms
  • Demonstrated good problem-solving and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm despite high-pressure situations
  • New York City residence is required within 180 days of hire
