Requirements
Job Purpose:
The Project Manager, STEM Editorial is responsible for the initiation, analysis, planning, management, and budgeting of STEM Editorial projects. The Project Manager is responsible for managing projects within budget and resource constraints, and ensuring that projects meet requirements, deadlines, and business requirements. This role requires significant interaction with management and leadership within the Editorial department and with other stakeholders outside of the department as needed, with a focus on successful deliverables for the business. This professional will find that we provide a challenging and flexible environment which values self-motivation and team collaboration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with content directors and discipline managers to create detailed work plans that identify and sequence the activities needed to successfully complete the project.
  • Monitor the execution and progress of the project according to the project plan as it pertains to scope, time, and budget and make adjustments as necessary to align with strategic needs.
  • Ensure that project work aligns with success criteria as defined throughout the project. Ensure that all project team members understand individual and group responsibilities to achieve project goals and strategy.
  • Employ BI tools and user engagement systems to acquire, organize, and interpret pertinent data as needed to monitor on-going processes and inform decision-making about future initiatives.
  • Work with stakeholders to measure KPI's, set benchmarks, and assist in determining optimal pricing and bundling strategies. Perform periodic metrics and revenue analyses.
  • Write reports on the project for key stakeholders including milestone reporting, bi-weekly and monthly updates. Assist with the management and reporting of financial status against budget.
  • Confirm accuracy of finance's tracking of costs. Host project status meetings for key team members on each project.
  • Analyze contractor efficiency and work with project owners to resolve efficiency issues.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 4 years experience with proven project management practices and methodologies
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to clearly articulate technical concepts and issues to a non-technical audience
  • Responds well to constructive criticism
  • Demonstrated proficiency with technology such as Google sheets
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Remains calm under pressure and remains committed completing the task when obstacles arise

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • PMI, Lean Six Sigma, Agile, or similar certification
  • Experience in managing digital content
  • Experience in educational businesses, such as publishing or educational software

    EDUCATION

  • B.A./B.S. degree required, preferably in Science, Math, or Business.
  • MBA or related experience strongly preferred
