Job Summary

Responsible for developing, editing, fact-checking, and proofreading content that showcase the firm’s industry- and service-specific knowledge for clients, prospective clients, and the general market. Includes making deadlines and managing and documenting the flow of content, approvals, technical reviews, and other information.

 

Also responsible for fact-checking and proofreading content for bylined articles for external publications and other articles. Updates Publishing Services master list and Publishing Services portion of database and creates related reports, processes freelancer invoices, collects department budget-related information, maintains and contributes to MDS Stylebook, and reports to firm on recently published articles through the Crowe in-house newsletter. Performs additional assorted tasks and projects as assigned. For periods when the Proofreading group is short-staffed, fills back-up Proofreader role – which includes proofreading marketing collateral, maintaining knowledge of independence guidelines, and raising related issues.

Qualifications

Skill sets required include:

  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Ability to convey complex subject matter clearly and without changing the meaning
  • Strong knowledge of English composition, including grammar, sentence structure, punctuation, and source citations
  • Ability to work collaboratively and productively with all types of people at all levels of the organization
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to focus on accuracy of details as well the larger picture
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask effectively
  • Proven problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills
  • Working knowledge of technology tools, including Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience working with and developing freelance editorial staff a plus
  • Knowledge of business and accounting a plus

Minimum Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must have the following;

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a writing/editing position, preferably with a professional services firm
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in English, journalism, or liberal arts
  • Experience following and applying a style guide, preferably Associated Press
